Welcome to our website!

We are happy to introduce you to this special organization through our website! We hope that you will visit us frequently to learn more about the National League of Performing Arts, Inc.

The National League of Performing Arts, Inc. is a non-profit organization that was founded by a group of concert artists and music educators who share a passion for music. Our goal is to offer master classes, concerts, workshops, and performance opportunities for artists and aspiring artists and students. We hope that this organization will provide a bridge between leading artists, aspiring young artists, and students as well as to create a dialogue and collaboration between different disciplines of the performing arts.

We had our first benefit event on January 4, 2008 performed by a pianist, Eva Young. For the 2008 season, we will have two more concerts. Please visit our “Event” page for more information. For the 2008-2009 Season, we will hold our first competition. We hope that you will visit us frequently to learn more about our upcoming events.

We hope to see you at one of our upcoming concerts as well as looking forward to your participation in our events. Thank you for taking your time to visit our site. We look forward to sharing our passion of music together.

Sincerely,
Tomoko HaradaBeatrice Long

In 1987, 18-year old Qian Zhou introduced herself to the world of music with a brilliant triumph at the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud International Competition in Paris, one of the top four international competitions in the world. She broke all precedent in the competition’s 50-year history by winning the First Grand Prize and all the five major prizes. Her victory drew world-wide attention.

Since then, Qian Zhou has been in the first rank of world-class violinists of her generation. She is a frequent recitalist and soloist with orchestras in Europe, United States, Asia and Africa. Past engagements include concerts with the Baltimore Symphony, BBC Symphony, BBC Scottish Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, National Orchestra of Ile de France, Rome Symphony Orchestra, Spanish National Orchestra, Russian Philharmonic, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Beijing Central Philharmonic and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. Highlights of recitals include performances at the Kennedy Centre, Carnegie Hall, Vienna Concert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo.

Qian Zhou’s performances have won acclaim from international music critics. Qian Zhou has recorded seven CDs with the Naxos and Marco Polo labels. She has also appeared in two documentaries, one of which is Isaac Stern’s Oscar-winning From Mao to Mozart.

Qian Zhou is also an accomplished teacher. Her students have won numerous international and national competitions including Wieniawski International Competition, Canetti International Violin Competition, Andrea Postachini International Violin Competition, and Singapore National Violin Competition.
